Review: The Highway of the Atom
Today, little is known about what happened at Port Radium on Great Bear Lake in Canada’s mysterious North. The stories that are told are “white” stories and largely ignore the perspectives of the Dene community, who were both involved in and devastated by these events. Van Wyck, through the use of interviews, archival evidence and his experiences at sites along this highway, weaves together a compelling tale that will make the reader re-examine Canada’s past and, hopefully, where we are heading in the future.
