Delivering Community Power CUPW 2022-2023

“Unist’ot’en Bear Tracks”

Beginning in early February 2020, following a police raid on the Unist’ot’en healing centre located in central “BC” where members of the We’suwet’en nation have been blocking construction of a natural gas fracking pipeline, a wave of solidarity actions swept across Canada. Along with road and highway blockades, one of the most common tactics has been the blockading of trains. This image represents one of the initial raids carried out by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police against a Wet’suwet’en blockade and the realization that the Wet’suwet’en have a broad network of solidarity across the country that has had a severe impact on the Canadian economy. Two of the most prominent slogans of this movement have been “Reconciliation is Dead” and #ShutDownCanada.
