    So Adam began dressing “more like a girl” and hanging out with those who shared the sex he was born with, in order to fit into a mould that society had formed long ago—a mould not shaped from the clay of the earth, as the old creation story goes, but from an outdated collection of conceptions and convictions about gender as a separator and a vice.
