John Bellamy Foster

  • Ecosocialism and a just transition

If we are to save our children’s world, we will have to be more revolutionary than at any time in human history, directing our efforts at sustainable human development (complete socialism), encompassing the needs of the entire chain of human generations, as well as the protection of the earth itself. In the end, there can be no other meaning to a just transition.

  • A resistance movement for the planet

Climate change is out of control. It is already too late to avoid soaring temperatures, scarce water, and extreme weather. But the financial structure of capitalism is tied to fossil fuels. Market-based solutions are ineffectual. John Bellamy Foster, a professor of sociology at the University of Oregon and the editor of Monthly Review, speaks about the kind of program necessary to stop this catastrophe.
