The Lonely American
Corporate propaganda has become so potent that many Americans are addicted. We must leave our isolated rooms. We must shut out these images. We must connect with those around us. It is only the communal that will save us. It is only the communal that will allow us to build a movement to resist. And it is only the communal that will sustain us through mutual aid as climate change and economic collapse increasingly dominate our future.

Can You Trust Justin Trudeau?
Justin Trudeau, the man/boy, seems to have never had an original idea in his life nor any discernible vision of the country that drives his politics. No matter how long he is on the scene as a potential PM I cannot get past reacting to him as if he is an MC at a high school prom.

Canadian Medicare and the Retirement Conundrum

Although the origins of the discipline of toxicology date back to antiquity, little thought was given during the first half of the 20th century to the downside of the gathering tide of anthropogenic chemicals in which our world is now awash.

Our home and surveilled land
In the name of deterring what it defines as “terrorism,” the Harper government is creating an unaccountable surveillance apparatus primed to infringe our civil and constitutional rights. CD joins with a growing chorus of angry Canadians in unequivocally rejecting C-51 as a vicious assault on civil liberties and a deliberate attempt to suppress opposition to Harper’s ongoing transformation of Canada into an authoritarian petro-state

Pillage and Class Polarization: The Rise of “Criminal Capitalism”
Mega-swindles define the nature of contemporary capitalism. The profits and power of financial capital is not the outcome of ‘market forces’. They are the result of a system of criminal behavior that pillages the Treasury, exploits the producers and consumers, evicts homeowners and robs taxpayers.

‘Harper in the Hot Seat’: Michael Harris on The Agenda
Michael Harris is a pioneer in the genre, with his 2014 takedown of Stephen Harper, Party of One. The journalist and filmmaker was on The Agenda recently recounting “Canada’s radical makeover” in the lead up to the fall election.

Over 100 scientists call for oil sands moratorium
“We believe the time has come for scientists to speak out about the magnitude and importance of the oil sands issue and to step forward as participants in an informed and international public dialogue. Working together, we can solve the energy problems before us. It is not too late, but the time to act is now.”
