Naomi Klein speaks on Israeli Apartheid

Naomi Klein first marched against the South African Apartheid when she was just a student at the University of Toronto. Almost 20 years later, the activist and international best selling author of No Logo and the Shock Doctrine joins a new student-led protest against racial segregation. Klein kicked off Israeli Apartheid Week Monday, March 3 at Ryerson University. Here’s the video:

  • It seems that Canadian Dimensions has become like the NATION in publishing aricles by people who wish to destroy Israel: Naomi Klein, and Chomsky who obvious seem to be ashamed of their Jewish Heritage.
By publishing their inciting and slanderous speeches and articles, it seems to me that Matthew Brett has joined them, and can no longer excuse himself by saying “the views expressed do not necessarily represent his own”

Matthrew Brett should be held legally responsible for diseminating and inciting
views that call for the destruction of a Democratic Nation.. which is recognized by the United Nations.

In my opinion New Dimensions can no longer hide behind the “Freedom of Speech”  but should be investigated by the Federal Government as a magazine spreading Hatred
much as the Nazi Prpagandists used to do.

  • If the Palestinians accepted Israel’s terms of surrender, what would they end up with?  No sharing of Jerusalem as their capital, little bantustans in the West Bank and Gaza, no right of movement between the bantustans, shrinking of the bantustan areas, expulsion from those bantustans to the other Arab countries resulting in a slow ethnic cleansing.

If the IAW organizers wish to expand their activities for next year, may I suggest that they seek students from other educational institutions besides the universities and colleges?

I’m sure some arguments the opponents of IAW will say next year is that by hurting Israel economically, we’ll be hurting countries such as Egypt and Jordan that have relations with Israel.  We’ll also be hurting the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza that we are trying to help.

    Great video!

  • (corrections)
AS I once wrote persons who ideas are biased and unfounded and personal believes are blinded by prejudice and hatred cannot be influenced by the truths and facts..

Israel is the most democratic country in the Middle East, and apartheid simply does not exist. Arabs parties are in the Knesset(Parliament),doctors and nurses in every hospital and medical center. Patients of every faith and nationality are received without discrimination, even from Arab nations who do not recognize Israel.
There are Arab Professors and instructors, students in every faculty. In the Foreign and Diplomatic Service you
have Arabs, And Finally in sports you have top Athletes
and teams who are Arab…So where is the Apartheid?

Now about boycotts. Before you begin throw out your
computer because many of the chips were developed and Produced in Israel. Throw out your cellular phones because many of the components were developed in Israel.
Be careful of the medicines you use because many of these were also a result of Israel medical research.
If by any chance you need a check up in the hospital
where modern equipment is used, don"t let them use
equipment developed By Israel. Now if ever have to fly
be aware that much of the safety and security systems
were developed by Israel…not to mention the security systems at the airports .....So where would you begin?

In the field of irrigation and agriculture, developing disease resistant varieties of fruits, vegetables, as well as grains, water and drainage systems and pest controls.
So you had better check out the bread, cereals, milk,
and fruits you may be buying, because these products may been grown using many technologies developed in Israel…????? Getting the big picture…??
In all the territories that have been returned and are controlled by the Muslims, Christian Arabs have become
the victims of open prejudice, and discrimination and so they have had to move elsewhere. Even Bethlehem which was once a Christian City is now mostly Muslim. In Gaza, Hamas terrorizes its Arab population and thereby is destroying Gaza from within.

I don’t know where Skinny Dipper gets his information from. It is certainly not from Scientific, or United Nations Information….More Likely his source is based
on the ramblings of sick and abnormal “Hate mongers” like Naomi Klein

There are so many positve persons in Canada, working
to build up our country, and those devoting themselves
to making Canada a better place to live in, and those
in the Defense Forces, and Police Forces who are defending Democracy from being attacked from without and within….

Better that I continue to work with these kind of normal , hard working persons and groups… who are proud of their Canadian Heritage….

PS I’m 76 years old,(born in Winnipeg- moved west) an engineer,  proud grandfather of 5   volunteered in mountain and sea rescue. and still voulunteer in many
community activities, especially with wonderful youngsters.

So I have no tolerance whatsover for those that poison
and spit into the wells they are drinking from , especially when these wells have been built by others..

  • Good speech by Naomi. Nothing in it about “destroying” Israel, and no “slander” - only positive encouragement to people to stand up against the destructive apartheid policies of the Israeli government.

Thank you Canadian Dimension for posting this video.

  • I saw the video of the French activists removing Israeli groceries from the supermarket shelves.  I think in Canada, it would be much more difficult to do that as there are very few Israeli products on the shelves except at kosher supermarkets.

May I suggest that the IAW organizers either announce identified Israeli products that consumers can definitely boycott and select non-Israeli companies that do business in Israel?

  • “Apartheid” is not a useful analytical term applied to Israeli policy toward Palestinians. Like “racist,” “Nazi” or “fascist,” applied to Israeli policy, it’s a concept loosed from its meaning in political theory, serving only to entrench Israelis in their belief that logic has fled the scene and that no one is interested in a resolution of the problem. Under these circumstances, Israelis figure, what’s the point of making concessions.

Let’s see what a hardline from the Israeli perspective might look like:

Palestinians? No such group exists. There are no historical references to Palestinians; there is no archaeological evidence of Palestinians.

If there are no Palestinians, then there is no Palestinian right of national self-determination and no valid Palestinian claim to territory.

On the other hand, as a matter of international law, all of the former British Palestine Mandate Territory from the sea to the mid-point of the Jordan River is now sovereign Israeli territory.

How so? When the British withdrew from the area they left a sovereignty vacuum that has been filled by Israel defending against a succession of hostile gambits by Arab nations. The “Palestinians” are merely a nuisance to be dealt with as a matter within Israeli discretion not as a matter of Palestinian rights.

What about UN resolutions? The UN is not a legislative body; it was intentionally denied the mandate to over-rule international law. UN resolutions are expressions of politics, not law. Israeli sovereignty over the former British Palestine Mandate has been validated obiter (by the way) in decisions of the International Court of Justice concerning Jordanian ceding of the West Bank and Egyptian ceding of Gaza in peace treaties between those countries and Israel.

Look for détente between Syria and Israel in the coming months. Israel will return the Golan Heights. Beyond that, diplomacy with respect to disputed territory in the region will be over.

There will be no Palestinian state - ever.

  • ... very few Israeli products on the shelves except at kosher supermarkets.

The cosmetics departments are awash with boycott products. Food products from companies like Nestlé, The Kraft Group, for example, are also targeted.
