On March 23rd I stated on this page that I had deleted the book, "The Losing battle with Islam", from the community college library where I work. The book actually was not deleted and is now in the stacks.

I just saw "Syriana" today (23.3.06), and was thrilled by it. Behind me as the film finished a group of ladies out for their afternoon at the flicks were complaining about not understanding what they had just seen. Not surprising when the film is so critical of the US foreign policy. To me the film's plot lines were intrically interwoven with the goal of showing us that the situation in the Middle East is a lot more complex than the current American "let's invade Iraq" "let's leave Iraq" thinking goes.

I was so amazed that the script mentioned Mossadeq -- I have just deleted a book ("The losing battle with Islam") from the community college library I work in because it has such a slanted view towards Iran. In the book, Iranian history starts with Khomeini in 1979 -- leaving the 1950s part of Iranian/US history out. The book seems to blame Iran for causing most of the trouble in the Middle East, a position currently being imposed upon us by the Bush administration.

What an intelligent film! And so satisfying to see the things we all are thinking up on the big screen... Thank you for your thoughtful review.
